Another Adventure…. waits a little bit longer.

Standard

Traveling is a lot different these days. Unfortunately, my travels in the past year have consisted of traveling 45 minutes to a friends beach house. And that’s about it… But that doesn’t stop me from planning for my next big adventure!

Amsterdam was one of my absolute favorite cities on my last trip to Europe (many years ago now).  I felt such a connection with the community and the history, as well as a connection to my heritage that I had never felt before.  Growing up, I remember my grandfather speaking some Dutch, and bringing us home souvenirs from his trips home to Holland. I was always very interested in the dutch language.  It was such a gruff language, but so beautiful and kind.

Even more than his Dutch stories, I remember the food he brought back after he went on a trip to visit his family.  Simple things which we now take for granted, 20 years ago were only found in Holland.  Specifically, the chocolate sprinkles that when on toast and butter, a lot of butter.  And Gouda. And there is nothing like fresh Gouda, especially not directly from Holland.

We had multiple cities on our list to explore, and only 10 days to do it. The more research I did, the more I was regretting not taking more time off. Maybe the trip being pushed back is just a sign that I need to take more time off for whenever we do get to make it over! With all this extra time for research I’ll have, it’s going to be a must!
